Many people, who know who Otto Rohwedder is, think that he made his machine perfect with no flaws. They are wrong. There were a few but one man found the most important.
His name was Gustav Papendick. He was a baker for St. Louis. The problem was that the loaves were coming out sloppy looking and the cuts weren't even. He knew that something had to be done in order for this machine to sell and the bread to become a hit.
He discovered that the loaves weren't getting enough support to stand up right. He knew that he had to put something underneath them. He tried many things then he found it. By putting a cardboard tray underneath them, the loaves would be cleanly cut and look nice for packaging.
